Town Hall Meeting with Sen. Bob Corker (Updated)
U.S. Senator Bob Corker will hold a town hall meeting at Loudon High School in Loudon on Wednesday, September 2 to speak with citizens and community leaders about health care reform and the economic challenges facing our state and country. The event begins at 4:00 P.M. and is open to the public. Seating will begin at 3:30 P.M. in the auditorium.
During the Senate's August recess, Sen. Corker is visiting 30 counties across the state to listen to his constituents' concerns and provide an update on his work in Tennessee and Washington on their behalf.

The East Tennessee Business Matchmaking & Networking Event is coming to Knoxville September 10, 2009. Special Called Meeting
The Loudon County Commission will hold a Special Called Meeting on Monday, June 29, 2009 at 6 P.M. in the Loudon County Annex Building to consider the adoption of the 2008-2009 Budget Year-End Amendments and the adoption of a resolution and proposals for Shaw Ferry Road and Highway 11 improvements. The regularly scheduled Commission Meeting for July 6, 2009 and, therefore, the Commission Workshop Meeting scheduled for June 15, 2009 are cancelled. The normal meeting schedule will resume in August.

Notice from Loudon County Animal Shelter
Volunteer readers were at Philadelphia, Steekee, Eaton, Loudon, and Highland Park elementary schools May 3 through 9 reading to students in recognition of American Humane's Be Kind to Animals Week®. Books with messages of respecting animals and tips for being responsible pet owners were shared with the students.
The Loudon County Animal Shelter thanks the school principals, librarians, and community volunteer readers for their participation.

Free spay/neuter vouchers will be issued by the Loudon County Humane Society on Saturday, May 16, at 10:00 a.m. in the Roane State/Lenoir City Library building, 100 W. Broadway. This program is made possible by a grant from Maddie's Fund®, the Pet Rescue Foundation. A limited number of vouchers for free spay/neuter surgeries will be given out on a first-come basis to pet owners living in Loudon or Monroe Counties earning less than $20,000 a year for individuals, less than $30,000 a year for a household, or individuals who are disabled, handicapped or receive Medicaid assistance or food stamps. A photo ID is required. For voucher questions call 865-988-7387.

Notice from Loudon County Animal Shelter
Dr. Heather O'Brien, DVM of the Animal Medical Clinic of Loudon County in Lenoir City is hosting a "Spay Day" on Friday, December 5. The hope is to spay or neuter 100 dogs and cats in one day utilizing the SNAP vouchers funded by Maddies Fund®. Volunteers are needed to make this banner day an efficient success. These volunteer opportunities include surgery prep, surgery assistant, caring for animals in recovery, and carrying sedated animals to and from surgery. Groomers and vet techs welcome! There are two shifts available: 7a.m.-12:30p.m. and 12:30p.m.-6p.m. Training will be provided. If interested in volunteering call 865-988-7387 or 865-458-5593.

- 6:00 P.M. - Joint Meeting - Loudon City and County Commission Workshop (discussion of expansion plans for one of our top employers - Kathy Knight, Loudon County Economic Development Agency), Loudon County Courthouse Annex
